Health Care Assistant

Our qualified Health Care Assistants offer services to aid other professionals such as nurses and doctors in their daily tasks whilst taking care of patients. As well-trained professionals, our Health Care Assistants are able to undertake defined and controlled clinical tasks for named patients referred by a health care professional. They undertake a wide range of tasks and responsibilities and their main duties and responsibilities include:

  •  Undertaking specific clinical activities and tests for patients, within the scope of established clinical protocols
  • Policies and procedures, including venepuncture, urine testing, blood pressure readings, ECG's, weight monitoring, audio assessments and medicals.
  • Washing, dressing, serving patients meals and assisting with feeding when required.
  • Helping people to mobilise, toileting, bed making and generally assisting with patient's overall comfort.
  • Undertaking centrifuge spinning of bloods / cleaning and preparation of machine within Practice protocols.
  • Undertaking a range of clinical support functions including preparing and stocking clinical areas in line with Practice protocols.
  • Providing relevant health information to patients and carers within defined protocols
  • At all times observing infection control procedures to protect self, patients and colleagues.
  • Assisting in maintaining a safe working environment for self, patients, carers and the multi-disciplinary team, alerting other members of the Practice team to issues of quality and risk identified in work with patients.
  • Working within established systems of clinical governance, contributing as appropriate to Practice audit activity.
  •  Dealing with clinical waste.
  • Orders and maintains stocks of dressings and equipment as directed.
